I have a bullet journal and have been trying to use it. But I can’t. A bullet journal for moms can’t be that hard, can it? I can’t find time or realistic ideas and I don’t know what to even write down. I’m in love with beautiful layouts and fancy lettering but I’ve got carpool duty. I need to pack for vacation, too! If its supposed to be my brain on the page, I’ve lost mine. Story of my life as a mom, lol. But seriously, how can I find time to use it? Do you have any ideas?
If there is one question you might ask about bullet journaling, it is this:
how do I make it work for me as a mom?
Because there are only so many hours in a day, we just can’t find the time to fit it in. Squeezing it between breakfastmorningtimeworklunchcleaninglaundrymealprepdinnertime seems impossible.
And your bullet journal begins to feel like one more thing to do instead of what it should…your brain on paper.
Let me explain.

MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU
Here’s where you may get hung up. You wish for beautiful layouts but you also want a bujo to do the work of keeping your thoughts organized.
Are these mutually exclusive wishes?
The thing is, you have to decide what you want that bullet journal to be for you. Do you want it to be just an artistic outlet? Do you need it to be an organization tool? Or a little of both?
When you decide how it is going to serve you, then go to it. Make it your own. Here’s a list to start your thinking:
- Does a weekly layout work best for you or a month at a glance with a daily list?
- What collections will you keep?
- When will you choose to look at it? Beginning of day? After the kids are in bed?
- Would you like it to hold things like meal plans and grocery lists? What about a budget?
Your bullet journal will evolve. It will not be exactly what you want right away.
You will make your way and begin to find a style and rhythm that work for you.
And it is hard to begin any habit. But you can do it. Step by step, you can begin to pay attention and find yourself going back to your brain–bujo–whatever you call it, and as things start to get done, you will get into a flow.
A bullet journal for moms…a tool to help you in the most practical of ways.
